Biography

In seventh grade, Dustin and his friends made videos for school projects whenever possible. By senior year of high school, he crafted a feature-length film for class credit with his best friend. His uncle still considers it a masterpiece.

With dreams of becoming the next Wes Anderson, he left the suburbs of Boston to study film at Northwestern. After a few projects, he realized that crafting light and composition brought him more satisfaction than coaching performances — so he shifted his focus to cinematography. But directing never fully left.

In 2004, he shot and directed My Better Half, a 16mm senior thesis. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a camera assistant, soaking up as much as he could from directors and DPs like Mike White and Eric Steelberg ASC.

Two decades later, cinematography is still the day job — but when the right project comes along, Dustin happily occupies the director's chair.
