When I got the invitation to sit on a panel to discuss Tech Scouts with the fellows of the Commercial Directing Diversity Program (CDDP) as part of their workshop series last May, I couldn’t have imagined a better outcome. Who knew so many great connections could form in just one evening?
Legendary commercial Director, Jordan Brady lead the panel and we immediately clicked. When we met for coffee soon after, he surprised me with an invitation to appear on his long-standing podcast, Respect The Process. As a podcast fanatic for many years (I wrote this blog post in 2011 professing my love for the medium), I quickly added it to my rotation. Every episode is fun and informative and I soon found myself binging them.
Our lengthy conversation covers a range of topics including my inspiration into becoming a filmmaker in high school, our shared environmentalism, life in the documentary world, and we decide how often it’s appropriate to contact your peers in the name of networking.
I hope you enjoy this episode and to celebrate the occasion, I’ve made some tweaks to my Cinematography Montage Reel! Please let me know what you think in the comments section below.
If you’re interested to hear me talk about cinematography some more, then check me out on Episode 5 of the WOOD podcast with Jordi Matsumoto from 2018. I also blogged about it here.
