When Director Paul B Cummings called about shooting action figures on a miniature set for the upcoming Bob’s Burgers Movie, I jumped at the opportunity.
There were several shots on the storyboards that potentially required a probe lens, but a camera test with our hero set confirmed that my Zeiss Super Speeds could get what we needed with the appropriate diopter/focal length combinations.
Our set designer, Sadie Nash, did an amazing job constructing and 3D printing everything that you see in the commercial. We used my Sony FS7 and recorded in ProRes 422HQ with the Odyssey 7Q+. The fun sized Aputure MC light was our hero of the shoot as it could sneak into small spaces as needed.
Huge thanks to Producer, Matt Marenyi for the opportunity and for choosing BTL Studios in Hollywood. Paul and I decided to keep the crew lean since our set was only 2 feet wide. We had the pleasure collaborating with 1st AC – Andrew Baxter, Gaffer – Chad Harrell, Key Grip – Nestor Gomez, and VTR – Steve Homeyer.
Would you buy this playset if it existed?
