Episode 10 (4/6/17) – Vacation Crash – features the young Canadian musical prodigy/YouTube star, Johnny Orlando, surprising two of his super fans with a limousine tour of Los Angeles, a sunset rooftop hang-out, and an opportunity to join him in a choreographed music video. I shot the episode for Director, Pablo Gomez Castro.
Pablo (pictured below), served as our wonderful 1st Assistant Director for 8 episodes that season before taking the reins as Director for the final episode on our production schedule.
-Our location, KorovaDTLA, in downtown Los Angeles offered many interesting looks for the shoot. This felt like a coffee shop you’d find in Portland, OR.
-After our scout, we decided to shift the treatment a bit so we could utilize this great vista. Our schedule allowed us to catch the last bit of wonderful golden sunlight behind them.
-Our tight schedule required that both looks in the rehearsal space be pre-lit. To help the two sections stand out more visually, my Gaffer, Austin Michaels, rigged a bunch of 4′ Kino-Flo tubes to the pillars.
