It’s been far too long since I’ve shared a set with my old friends, BJ McDonnell and Adrienne Lynn. Big thanks to Renae Geerlings–who produced our last venture–for the grand reunion!
BJ and I have come a long way since I met him on my first gig in Los Angeles after moving here post-graduation in 2004. I wrote about our journey in this lengthy blog from 2011.
These drone commercials are a sharp left turn from BJ’s body of work in the director’s chair. After helming Hatchet 3, BJ crafted a series of gory music videos for legendary metal band, Slayer.
We shot both spots in a gated community’s well manicured park on a hot Calabasas day in September.
While I didn’t have a chance to fly any of the drones during the shoot, I found time to swing on the swingset… The youthful energy of the kids was infectious!
