Is the Third Blog a Charm?

So I gave a half-assed attempt to learn WordPress last August. I quickly gave up trying to learn a new system. I’ve managed to get by for many years with VERY limited html knowledge. I build designs in Photoshop, which I’m very comfortable with, and then use my archaic Powerbook G4 (because it still has ImageReady CS) to slice my images up into web-friendly pages. It’s arduous, clunky, time consuming, and irritating. I know there has to be a better way, so I’m going tutorial crazy to get this new language down.

As my frustration grew with my current web design, I decided that I needed a forum to show my unabridged work to the world without spending a week redesigning my website. I figured a quick Blogspot site would suffice. My frequent collaborator, The James had one, so I figured I’d get on the bandwagon. Honestly, at the time, I totally forgot about WordPress. The Cavalier questioned my choice (since he was the one who encouraged me in August to go WordPress) and I didn’t have a good answer for him.

Let’s just say that blogging isn’t my strong suit.

But I’m going to try.

My first (failed) attempt at a blog was more of a photoblog inspired by my pal, Marcus. I had hoped to share pictures on a regular basis to motivate me to use my Canon 5D even more regularly.

Work got in the way.

Through a series of coincidences, I realized that I MUST blog.

I’ve spent lots of time the last two weeks designing and considering the best approach for my new website. I’ve been flirting with the idea of a blog-centric interface. To increase my web presence even more, I finally joined Linkedin on July 23rd. So what?

The answer is this: on July 26th, I shot something for Cisco/Verizon where a contest winner received an hour and a half consultation with the legendary Guy Kawasaki. Guy presented numerous strategies for a small business owner to utilize tools on the web to increase visibility and clients. Everything seemed to be lining up too well. His thoughts on Linkedin and the power of blogging and Twitter were inspirational and I couldn’t wait to get home and start implementing them. So here we go.

I hope to post often.

Thanks for stopping by.
